Can't find the fuel pressure regulator

Postby siclmn [OP] » Aug 23 2011, 5:34pm

It's a 7.4 L 1999 454. There are just a few pictures on the web of fuel pressure regulators for chevy engines. None of them show my engine for I can't find one. Can you find mine or show me a picture of yours? I took pictures of mine and it's not there.

On this engine it's on the drivers side back by the distributor under the spark plug wires. Probably won't be able to get to it unless the upper manifold is removed. Hope this helps.

Is the upper manifold what the last picture is showing?

Yes, the aluminum part. I did one of these on my freind's 1998 K2500 454 about 3 months ago. Not too bad. There is also a video on YouTube, search fuel pressure regulator 454 and you should find it.

Hey good find, I think it's something I can do if I put my mind to it. The thing is that the truck runs perfectly, it's just that when it's hot it can take up to 6 or 7 cranks before it catches. That is the only reason I wanted to change this part out. Maybe I can do the pull the rubber line test by feel just to see if its full of fuel before I go ahead and yank that cover off.
