I can't believe no one has chimed in on this. Here's my 2 cents:I understanding that folks are having mixed results in increasing the fuel efficiency of the 6.0.My own experience with programmers on previous vehicles has found a 1/2 to 1-1/2 mpg gain. You will get a little more by running Premium fuel which certainly wipes out any mpg savings.2500 series trucks are heavy requiring more power to move them.More power=more fuel.My advice would be to run the max psi in your tires and maybe get a frash air filter and spark plugs.Hope this helps.-Andy.

I also had similar experiences with the 6.0L engine. I had a 02 2500HD with the 6L engine. It also had a 4.11 rearend. I could watch the gas gauge move as I drove. Tried everything to increase mileage but no luck. The 4.11 rear had a lot to do with it. I traded it in and kept my 98 half ton Silverado z71 5.0L ext cab. I can get about 16mpg around town and better on highway driving. The 02 2500HD was replaced by a Honda Civic. Visibility isn't as good but 36mpg is quite an experience!

I have a 2009 HD and my son has a 2003 HD. He tried the tuner at $150 and changed his MPG by 1/2 mpg. My opinion is that it will take a while to make up his $150 at that rate. I think that about 12mpg in the city and 15mpg on the road is about all you will get with the 6.0L. I love my truck but the mpg is not good, of course I was used to my 1990 GMC 4.3L that gave me 22mpg in the city and 30mpg on the highway. Just accept the fact that the 6.0L is a good workhorse but a bad showhorse if you are looking for economy.
