Postby southernpride1500 [OP] » May 16 2012, 2:59pm

I have a silverado 1500 with a 4.8l in it but I want to drop a 350 in it. Is this duable? I found a crate for a decent price. I need a intake for it. Is it compatible with a 4.8l? And also will my headers from the 4.8l to the 5.7? Will the computer work? Please help me. And here's the crate engine http://www.jegs.com/i/GM-Performance/80 ... 2/10002/-1

Nothings going to work with the 350, none of the mounts, none of the fuel injection, headers will not work, i dont think even the tranny would bolt up, now a 5.3 i think most everything would work, probably need it custom tuned though or a ecm from the 5.3. Why in the world would you want to go back to a 350, that 4.8 would out perform a stock 350 any day if the week. Stock 350 225 hp. Stock 4.8 260hp

Those are two totally different designed engines. Is it doable, yes, but it's not really worth it. I'd just mod the 4.8. The 4.8 is a great engine by itself.

What Gears do you have in your diffs?? if you want to make it have more off the line take off you need to change gears i would bet that you have 3.23 or 3.42 rear gears. you could step up to 3.73 or 4.10 for more performance and it will do better off the pavement..

I have 3.23 on my 09 with the 4.8 it is hard to get mine to spin the new 20's that i put on it but running down the freeway i runs like a bat out of hell.. but i am considering changing to a set of 3.42 or 3.73 have not made my mind up yet and have not talked my self into spending the money

It is torque that causes tires to spin, not horsepower. As stated above, it probably has more to do with the gear ratio your truck has and the torque management software installed than the horsepower/torque rating of the engine.

go with the 5.3L its 325ci it was made to replace the 350. if you need to spin your tires look into a gear swap. i bet you have 3:73 in there now and if you get any bigger tires then 4:10 would be the way to go.
