Swapping to Corvette Engine

Engine Swap

Postby stinger92193 [OP] » Mar 29 2011, 7:01pm

Hello, I am a Silverado enthusiast for many years now. I have heard of people swapping Corvette engines into their trucks. Is this possible? If so, can anyone pass on any information about such a task for an 02 Silverado. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of how to do this, but a quick google search turned up a few trucks that have done this - mostly with the Z06 motor... Here's an example

I read about that too, however that's an 08 model. I have an 02. I remember reading about a 200-2002 model in Truckin magazine before that had the Vette engine, but I cant find it anymore. When I search google, i dont get anything,

I might be more feesable and cost effective to just supercharge or turbo your current motor. I do agree, if you have the cash anything can be done, they replace the new JK Jeep Wrangler's 3.6 v6 with the SRT8's 6.1 HEMI. I would think with the tuning capability it wouldn't be to hard to just transplant it as long as all the sensor connections are plug and play. Keep us posted if you find out more info or take the challenge on.

Isn't the 6.0ltr chevy engine a vet engine supressed? That should drop in easy and may need a set of heads. We had this discussion at work. I may be off a little. Sounds like a good project though. Good luck!

Thanks guys. I actually got somewhat of a lead. I found out that a 2002 Z06 5.7L Vette engine will drop right in with no mods. I may need a new tranny that can handle the torque and power gains but yea. Eventually I will tackle that engine swap. I plan on doing Corvette styling throughout the truck. I already have the front bumper, I am working on the rear bumper and the exhaust. I will let you guys know. Let me know if you guys find anything else out, as I am looking for all options I can get.
