Fastest non single cab trucks?

Fastest non single cab trucks?

Postby 07silvy [OP] » Jan 31 2012, 2:50am

Any of you guys into 1/4 or 1/8 mile racing with your trucks? Im curious as to what some of your times are. Not really looking at single cab trucks because that will not compare to my truck. I love racing and it sucks that I have this big heavy truck now and can not play. I have been talking to a couple of people about what my goals would be if I decided to put some performance money into my truck. If I could make the truck go 12s without changing the converter or anything on the motor I might start working towards that direction. It is a 2007 crew cab z71 2wd. I am basically wondering if full exhaust, good cai, tune and 100-150 shot get me in the 12s

Once or twice.. maybe.. Then its off the the trans shop. I thought about doing the same but the weight will kill it. Gears first if you want to go faster.. then the mpg tanks... I went to the speed shop here in town and was educated quickly. I've done a bunch and getting ready to do the top half of the motor with a new cam and I might make it to the 12's.. but I still need a DD and getting it there will mean a stall and a 4k tranny if I don't want to trash it..

Other can tell me I'm on #%#@... It wasnt a money thing.. just a bang for you buck...

Either way.. fun stuff going fast in a 7000lbs truck...

Ahh.. the turbo.. thats what they told me... CRAZY HP... and still back to the drivetrain to keep it from exploding the tranny...

There is an 07 Avalanche at the shop here with twin turbos... 600HP+ to the rear wheels and a transmission built to go in a tank...

Fun stuff... Really cool, but not a DD for sure...

My reasoning is if I am going to have to start doing serious work on this truck like transmission or adding forced induction then Ill just hold off until I get another car. Because I WILL eventually have another car, and this truck will be used to pull it. So as far as things like a cam or converter etc. it will eventually hurt me because I will be using the truck to haul with. I was just thinking that If I could get the truck to the 12-13 range fairly easily I would do that for right now to be able to play

Exactly. I love the go fast stuff. And I'm going to do a bit more to my truck and then go get a street rod and get stupid with it. I do have to say... it is really fun at the top of an on ramp and its just getting started... but.. a 70 1/2 RS Camaro is going to be my mid life HP crisis... This way I have a truck to tow it back when I think its a lambo...

Here is a vid of my old car. It is kinda hard to go from a mid 10 second daily driver to my truck. lol. So that is why I have the mod bug. http://s179.photobucket.com/albums/w300/mystang1019/?action=view&current=6829986145.mp4

this is why is mis my old trucks 85 shortbed 4x4, manual with granny low. btw with a 383 stroker very well built, had to run on race gas. Couldnt afford that nowadays, but there wasnt much i couldnt pass with that one except a gas pump!
