high idle in gear

high idle in gear

Postby CHROMEE [OP] » Dec 01 2013, 2:28pm

Another FNG here with a question. Gotta 98 silverado 4x4 automatic 5.7L w/ac. Engine idle goes up when engine is cool and and shifted into gear. Doesnt matter drive or reverse. Idles fine in park or nuetral. Idle goes back to normal after engine warms up. Every sensor on engine has been replaced as well as ignition control module and complete tune up in the last year. Even tried swapping ecm. Possible defective engine temp sensor? No CEL or codes stored. Thanks for the help.

Has the throttle body been cleaned lately? It's easy and cheap to do. If it needs cleaning it usually gives symptoms at idle, but a good cleaning wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the reply. Yep been cleaned. Throttle body would affect it whether it was in park or in gear. I only have the problem in gear.
