Just won a tuner!

Just won a tuner!

Well, I won the auction for a tuner. I got a Diablo Sport Predator. It had my engine VIN code letter listed as compatible, so I jumped. I held the high bid by myself at only $140 for a few days, then got it upped to over $200. I know they retail at around $300, so I went up to $225 before I left for work. Turns out Ebay is blocked at my work, so I had to stick with the $225. And it was a suspense until I got home. I was surprised I got no email saying I won, but when I logged in I saw the winning bid notification.

I'm now the owner of Predator tuner for the very nice price of only $212.50, plus $14 shipping. I just got a set of BFG 285's, so now I can tell my truck the new size and fix the speedometer, along with a few other things. Hopefully should have it next week....

Argghgh!

Just venting over still not having the tuner. I wish the seller had indicated snail shipping. It's coming from Idaho, and won't be here until next Monday. It sat in Utah for 3 days for some reason. I understand it was just ground shipping, but there is no reason for it to sit there for days waiting on a truck to bring it Eastward...

So the thing finally arrived.. Only took 12 days..

Anyway, read the booklet through so I knew what to do. It was fairly self explanatory. I programmed in a new tire size, and used the 87 octane tune file. It was a little weird to see the dash board display read,"4WD service" and "Reduced Engine Power" during the process...But to have no ill effects. Power seems fine, same with 4WD.

It's also a diagnostic code reader, which will always come in handy.

My only concern is what I'm expecting. I had this crazy vision of programming my truck, and then having it be a beast.. It sounds the same, pretty much drives the same as well. I did notice it seemed to be hard shifting right after 30mph. RPMs go up like it wants to shift, but it seems to not do so right away. I only changed the tire size, so I'm thinking it might have something to do with the factory tune.

I've been considering making the switch to premium fuel, and then using the Performance tune file settings. I keep hearing that it can make a positive difference, but also hear it will only cost me more money.

As dangerous as it can be, I'm thinking...(:smoke from ears:)
