because i read it somewhere that if water or anti-freeze get into the engine it would create major problems to the engine. i'm asking because i just wanted to be on the safe side.

Manifold Gasket Set (Intake)

Postby Machster69 » May 15 2012, 5:21pm

Um nah, u can change it to be safe, but ive changed a couple. Ive had bits of debris, dirt, oil soaked dirt, under the intake kinda slip into the motor. No issues wat so ever. I did pass a shop vac over the area the suck some out. Water will blow out the exhaust(idk why you would get water in there) and coolant doesnt run through the intake on a 5.3. There is a mini line on the front of the throttle body, but its not insde the intake... Its your truck, but ide jus change the gasket and be done!

i still got 7 bolts to remove the intake manifold. this is my first time doing this and i broke 1 ground wire because of heavy rust.

if i put on the intake manifold back on, should i just torque it to 30 lb. ft instead of 25 lb. ft. becaues my torque wrench can't go below 30.
