New GM motor?

GM already has Colorado diesels throughout the world (except here, DARNED EPA!), so it's easiest to start there.
The next-gen small block V8 is coming out in 2013, supposedly a 5.5L beauty. I've heard that they might start putting the Camaro\Cadillac CTS' 3.6L V6 in trucks, too. Only time will tell!

God can't it be 2013 yet...

the gen V is going to be direct injection and have VVT i believe...
but I think that the 4.5 DMAX is definitely going to be used, weather or not its offered on the 1500.
it would be really dumb to invest all the money and time into an engine (its ready to go...) only to not use it.
The reason I think it WILL be offered in 2014 or soon after in the NNNBS half ton is your favorite president's new emissions and mileage restrictions that go into effect for that model year like the article said. Gonna be an expensive option, but there's enough reason to offer it. And that would REALLY boost GM's competitiveness in the half ton market because they'd be the only ones with it!

I'm gonna go ahead and declare.....the GM full size truck community will need to make a new acronym for the newest body style - NNNBS is just getting ridiculous!

Here's hopin' the diesel makes it in, let's just hope they don't ruin the interior while they're at it....

Well, maybe when we know the model designator we can all just go by GMT900 series and whatever the new one is!

I dont understand it diesel burns cleaner than gas motors and overseas they have em i wish the epa would get there facts straight so we can have a half ton diesel! It would be a great seller GM has been talking about this for years but there not ready to pull the plug cant wait to see how the new chevy cruiz diesel will sell i think if that does well they will bring out a diesel in the half ton in upcomming years if the cruiz diesel sells well... thats my 2 cents

I have a feeling the huge oil companies spend lots of $$$ to make us all do what they want.
In europe diesel costs less and everyone drives one... what gives? I think we should do some serious rethinking of our emissions and other standards that are keeping ALL the diesels out of this country. GM and has a couple great vehicles with little baby dmaxes in them!

I just came across the 2012 TrailBlazer which isnt sold in the US... its a sweet rig powered by... a DMAX!

^^^ exactly Studies show that DIESEL burns CLEANER than a gas engine. i think we should get some kind of thing going and send it to the white house or send it somewhere!
