Performance Tuning

Postby J Whitfield [OP] » Oct 29 2013, 12:07am

Well after months of reading on the internet and talking to many people about Tuners I felt that I would like to have one for my 2014 Silverado! The main thing I was looking for was to turn off the DOD/AFM which is very annoying with these new trucks if you have installed an aftermarket muffler because of drone.Everybody was telling me that this fellow called Lew was the God of tuning GM vehicles and I should hunt him up,I did and it was the best move that I have made from saving me some bucks on a package deal tuner,Walking me through the steps to tuning and loading files,To making my truck run smoother and stronger!(His website below)

Vehicle--2014 Chevy Silverado 5.3
Tuner--DiabloSport inTune Touch Screen Tuner
1.Canned tunes--Was stronger than stock and looked to get about .5 mpg better fuel mileage
2.Lew's custom tune--Stronger than canned tunes and pulled all through the gears even,Shifting was smoother and even rpm range between gears, truck seemed to start faster and just sounded better!Fuel mileage looks to be 1.5 to 2 mph better after Lew's tune.

**NOTE**-If you own a tuner or thinking about getting a tuner you should get with Lew and get the most out of your tuner. He really made it easy and great turn around with his work and customer service!Besides,He has some really neat stuff at his online store :D

I've been dealing with Lew for less than a year, got a tuner and a custom tune from him. Then I bought a cai cold air induction brand from him. Lew knows his stuff and is a pleasure to work with! He always answers any questions and his service is more than prompt it's soo good and fast, all others should strive to provide what he does. But then again his knowledge and stellar service with great prices are what sets him apart. high five to Lew for supporting our community! So if you want your truck to run better and be more fun to drive look up Lew aka 06monteSS you will be glad you did.

I'm going to revive this thread a bit and ask a few questions. I am looking into tuners. Will an Intune benefit me much if it is NOT custom tuned? And also, I don't plan to put on exhaust or CAI or anything like that. I just want firmer shifts, no AFM, and better throttle response. Can I get all of that with just the tuner without the mods and without the custom tune?

Most tuners just have canned tunes. That I know of the intune and the trinity are the only ones that have been used to get custom tunes done. I wanted to get a bullydog gas tuner. Now I'm thinking bout getting the trinity to get a custom tube by Diablew. But I have exhaust and a cai. Want firmer shifts and turn off afm

Ok, so a canned tune is just a pre set generic tune? And a custom tune is tuned for ur exact driving style? If so then the generic tune should still be way better then stock, is this fair for me to assume?

I don't know if I would say waaaay better than stock. A canned tune will make an improvement but don't expect the moon.
