Saturday Morning K&N Install...

Re: Saturday Morning K&N Install...

Duke, where is the MAF mounted on the K&N? It looks like it might be kinda on the back side, behind the small hose that runs over the top of the K&N tube? It's a bit hard to tell from the pics.
Also, is the new K&N significantly louder than the stock air box?

It is louder but I don't even notice it anymore. Unless you are always in the gas it's not noticeable.

Duke, here is the muffler I am running.

And what I might swap in later.

I really want to do this, but I am just not sure I want the hassle of a filter I have to oil, dirtier MAF, etc.

Seriously...as A/R as I am, I would constantly be worried that I either did not put enough oil on (and am destroying my engine with dirt and grit); or over-oiled it and am ruining my MAF or TB or something.
...it's hard to be me.

For some piece of mind, $40 bucks and you can replace the filter with a new one...

Just my .02....

Duke, nice choice on the CAI...I like the way you roll. Hey this is just an FYI....remember the black plastic clamp the attached the top radiator hose to the factory air intake duct. Clip the little nipple off the pastic clamp on the top radiator hose and use a long black zip tie and wrap it around the K&N duct and through the palstic clamp. This will help prevent to top rad hose from rubbing a hole in itself. I did it on all 4 of the CAI I've installed. We have them on both our trucks, on my neighbors 5.3 Sierra and my little sis 6.0 Sierra 2500. The instructions don't mention it but double check and tighten all the hose clamps on the belows after a couple hundred miles. Whats next on the wish list?
