Seafoam Motor Treatment!

Postby Collins.T [OP] » Jul 15 2012, 3:31am

So I did my routine oil change today and my frequent fluid top-offs and decided I would try Sea-foam motor treatment. I've been reading and researching the best engine cleaner and ended up getting this. I poured about a 1/3 of it in my brake booster vacuum hose with the truck running and the rest in the gas tank. Cut the engine off and let it sit for about 10 min while i cleaned the throttle body. After it sat I started the truck and let all that carbon build up and grey smoke blow out the exhaust for about 10 min and took it for a little test drive. WOW what a difference! My throttle response, over all sound and horsepower was very noticeable. If you dont do this with every oil change, I highly recommend it.

yeah I used to work at an automotive shop cant say which one but we would rev the vehicle up to about 2,000 rpm and we would put it through the brake booster line you would be surprised on how much build up came out of those cars lol excellent treatment would recommend it at least every 10,000 miles

It really can't damage the engine. The only thing it can do is foul out the spark plugs. At least that is what I have read. I forgot where I read this but it stated that if your plugs are at the point of being replaced you should consider replacing them after you have used this treatment. I have used it and it does clean the carbon buildup very well. I'm not sure if the smoke that comes out is mostly carbon or just the treatment itself but, it does make some difference. I think the fact that the guy cleaned his throttle body was what made the most difference.
