Dual exhaust on a 07 4.8

Postby mark5:9 [OP] » Jul 23 2012, 9:19pm

Hello, I am looking to do a new cat back dual set up. I want to cut it off right before the y pipe and add flanges to both pipes and bolt in the new system. I also plan to use cherry bomb glass packs. With this set up, can I achieve a nice rumble at idle? Also, I would like it to roar while on the pedal and cackle when I let off. Is this possible, or am I asking to much of this set up? Thank you.

So are you wanting to run true duals? Also the glasspack will give you the popping and cracking you want.

Yes. I was planning on cuting it at the y right after the cats and running two pipes with a cherry bomb on each pipe. I am then going to have it exit on both sides at the same angle the factory one exits on the passinger side. Thank you.

i have true duals on my 09 GMC with the 4.8l i have magnaflow mufflers on it right now but when i first bought it it had flowbastard 40 on it and when in park or neutral if i would rev it up to 3-4K when it idled back down it would crackle. my maggs don't do this as much but if i manually down shift it will crackle say if i am going 60 and drop it into 3 and let it decel on its own it will crackle a little.

Will the muffler need to be put somewhere specific to achieve that sound, or stock location ok? Thanks.

My mufflers are between the front of the bed and the rear axle about where the stock muffler should be. I can not comment on the stock exhaust location exactly because i bought my truck used and it had already had the exhaust done. I just changed the mufflers out to magnaflows.

It doesn't matter a glasspack is going to pop and crack regardless of location. If you really want it to make noise get it real hot and stick a water hose through the pipe to it and spray it. It will burn out all of the fiberglass packing in there.
