Exhaust for 2014 Silverado

Postby BigTom [OP] » Feb 06 2014, 4:59am

I'm planning to buy a 2014 Silverado soon. However, I can't stand the thought of having a bare stock truck so I'm already looking for an aftermarket exhaust to have installed by the dealer when it arrives. Does anyone out there have a flowmaster installed on theirs? If so, which one and how does it sound? I'm trying to avoid Borla because of the hefty price tag. Also, has anyone noticed any MPG gains with these? I started getting better mileage in my 02 when I had dual cat back flowmasters installed.

I wouldn't recommend flow master at all unless you don't mind losing a few HP.
Im running Magnaflow, price isn't Much different than flow master and its a straight through design which means you'll gain HP with magnaflow.

Thanks for the reply! I had played with the idea of magnaflow, knowing that they had a straight through design. However, I'm pretty sure that flowmaster's mufflers are designed in a manner that actually helps the muffler "pull" more air from engine (obviously all dual systems will increase airflow), thus creating a more efficient airflow and increasing MPG even though they do not have an unrestricted design like the magnaflow. I also felt that I had a horsepower increase when I put the flowmaster on. I have heard some magnaflows, they sound nice but I'm also interested in gaining a little on the MPG side wherever possible. Did you have any noticeable increase in MPG after installing the magnaflow? What size pipes and which series muffler?

There is a topic on this website if you can find it. He did a Dyno test on CAI and muffler. He gained 13hp with the CAI with stock muffler. Then put on the flow master and lost 3hp. The guy at my local performance shop told me he has never seen an increase in performance on anything he has ever put on his Dyno. Just sharing my knowledge. I know a lot of people like the way flowmaster sounds!!

How much did the Corsa cost you? Do they have a lifetime warranty like flowmaster?

Not sure on the warranty part. I will say that they do stand behind there product i had an issue with the muffler making a strange whistling sound. Corsa had no questions and sent me a new muffler and the problem was fixed. And if I remember right i paid around 500 bucks from streetside auto not the cheapest exhaust. Let me know if i can help anymore
