Flowmaster 50 series question

Flowmaster 50 series question

Postby SHSUsilverado [OP] » Jan 18 2012, 1:27am

I'm about to do my first mod to my Silverado!
I want to put a Flowmaster 50 series muffler under there and dump the exhaust behind the axle. I am very close to having this done....BUT!

I have no idea which 50 series to get. If I am not mistaken, there is the BB, SUV, Delta, and HD. I looked on youtube and can't find a video AND I looked on here for a good hour last night and couldn't find a defining answer. When I read the differences on the Flowmaster website, I didn't get a whole lot out of them since they are just trying to sell every kind anyway. It's their job to make each one sound good. Any suggestions? I kind of looked around and it seems more get the Delta but I have no idea why.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on what else to do down there while they're working on the exhaust. I was just gonna do single in/ dual out and have them run the piping. Nothing fancy. Suggestions?

I'm new to this forum so Im sorry if I overlooked a few good posts and this is a reoccuring post.
Thanks for your help fellas.

I've got the 50 Series BB on my truck... great sound. I'd go with this muffler again in a heartbeat. It's really impossible to tell what it's going to sound like on your truck without welding it on, so you'll have to narrow it down and bite the bullet. Flowmasters always make great sounds, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

As far the piping goes, you may just do what I did- swap out the factory muffler with the Flowmaster, and leave it like that. You could hear a little different sound if you dump it over the rear axle, or run dual in\dual out, but IMO it isn't enough to justify the extra cost.

Let us know how it goes!

+1 with what stars said, I absolutely love mine and it makes the truck sound mean. I kept the same stock set up (si/so) aside from a true 3" tail pipe and tip in the stock position.

I have a 40 series on mine, but it cuts off below the cab. Louder in the cab and just louder in general than if you get duals. Has a low roar to it, it's sick.

patmc81 can you repost that link?

This is the problem I have been running into and it bugs me. Like here, I have 2 for delta and 2 for BB
I wish I could hear them on my truck and just make a decision. Do ya'll really think there will be THAT MUCH of a sound difference?

I put the 50 series delta on my 2004 silverado with duels. It sounded solid without being too loud in the cab. I have not done anything to my '11 because of the AFM. I want to ride in one with a aftermarket muffler before i pull the trigger........
