local muffler shops want from 200.00 to 350.00 to cut off muffler and install a new flowmaster in its place w/small piece of pipe wielded on. my question is, what is the going rate for a job like this? truck is 2011 silverado 1500 ext cab 5.3l.

I smell a rip-off! When I did mine (same project as yours), the charged me $150, which was way over the $60 I was quoted over the phone. I needed the truck done ASAP, so I didn't argue with them. I think you need to find a better shop...

Also, if you've got the tools, you could cut out your old muffler at your house, to save some labor costs.

Average price should run around $50-$80. Anything more than that is just absurd.

Man , does that include a " Reach Around " with that install. :shock: Oops, shouldnt of said that.
I ordered my Flowmaster 70 online. $90ish. First shop I went to $50 to install. Cut out stock muffler and pieced in new. Keep looking ;)

I had dual pipe ran from the muffler back with new hanger for 250 and they welded my tips on. Sounds a little steep to me.
