Glasspack Exhaust on 5.3L

Glasspack Exhaust on 5.3L

Postby Kyle [OP] » May 09 2011, 9:36pm

Heres a dual 18" glasspack setup on a new 2011 5.3L GMC Sierra. 18" long by 3.5" Diameter resonating tips as well. This is just a gentle take off....my wife didn't quite get the concept of "PUNCH IT" so I could record it

I like it. How much does it "cackle" when you lift off the throttle? I am considering doing the same setup with my 2007 GMC NBS. I want something a little louder and throatier than the current Magnaflow muffler I am running.

Theres no cackle in it at all. That of course will change once they're broken in. I have ran glasspacks forever, and the cackle was less noticable on the 18" and longer mufflers. I ran 12's one time and they crackled a lot. My only gripe is when the v4 kicks on and off you do feel a very slight tug that you don't feel without the exhaust. It sounds great though, and there is minimal cab noise. Of course this is coming from a guy who has a ran a Hemi the last 1.5 years with straight pipes :D.

Even for the "gentle" take off it sounds good. You gotta get the "punch-it" vid though too. For her sake :D

Thanks for the info. I am sure if I go this route, I will turn off the V4 mode so I don't have to deal with the buzzing sounds that come with it. I agree too, we need to hear the "wide open" sounds too!

Ha I wish I could buddy....I'm back up in Pennsylvania for about 2 months, so I won't be seeing that truck til then when I get back to Oklahoma. However, I'll see what I can do then and get it posted up for ya. It sounds pretty bad ass. I just could never get used to flowmasters "boxed" in sound. I'm about the only guy around here that still uses glasspacks, yet I get more compliments on how " awesome " my trucks sound with them on.

Will just post a link instead of embedding it. If it's against the rules to post the link with curse words in it just let me know and I'll remove it ASAP!

It's sounding a lot nicer after a few miles on it!

They are the cheapest muffler you will find. I spent 35$ each on mine.
