Magnaflow Muffler Size

Postby AZ Rider [OP] » Feb 28 2012, 9:07pm

Hey guys, i've been looking for replacement muffler for my truck and wanted to get a magnaflow. Now i'm going more for performance then for sound (which I know won't be much at all). So i was looking online at Magnaflow website and I see the biggest they go is 18" and wanted to know how much louder that muffler would be over stock? Also, where is the best price for that muffler? Ebay is selling them for $92 and I think I could get it cheaper somewhere else. Help me out boys! Thanks in advance!

They do make larger. I had a 22" before I got the Corsa exhaust. It's slightly louder than stock, not much drone but you can hear it in the powerband from 1500 - 2000 RPM. It did wake up on heavy acceleration. It did notice <1 MPG gain, but did get better throttle response and low end torque. It also made my engine go into V4 mode sooner and longer.

I alos bought it from Newegg for about $95.00, Amazon had it for a little more, burt also had free shipping.

22" was my first choice, but after looking at the Magnaflow website, I didn't think they made them anymore. I really didn't want to go TOO much louder than stock so I had figured that either a 18" or 22" would be my best bet.

If you're looking for a muffler that will be noticed a little more than stock but isn't much louder I think you will be more than happy with the 18". I have it and love it, it could be a little bit louder for me but I think going to a 14" would be to loud for me and my 4 year old son (even though it would be awesome). Check out banditexhaust.com, they will usually give you a pretty good deal if you email them about a product you want. I got it for a decent amount less than what you're finding it for.

18" is the length of the muffler body, the overall length adds about 6", 3" on each side for the inlet/outlet.
