i have a 2011 gmc sierra (obviously:)) anyways with the 5.3, i have had flowmaster, bassani, borla, magnaflow, and am now on cherry bomb extreme....they all sound good untill i get to about 3-4k rpm then it gets a little more high pitched, and it starts to get quieter and sound bad....i was thinking if i take my resonator off it would be better? its just cats back not true dualed or anything just y piped.

You've gone thru all of those exhaust systems and still can't find one that sounds good to you??? Maybe you should have bought the 6.2L instead of the small block,or buy a dodge hemi.

Idk I guess I'm used to the loudness of my old lb7....but would sound change with resonator off?

Why don't you have the muffler cut out and see what it sounds like with out it. You can always weld it back in. Straight pipes sound nice just a little loud for me. Also, what Flow did you have on it? I like my single chamber now that it is broke in.

I did have it straight piped, sounds worse!!! My friends 01 5.3 is straight piped and sounds badass...I think it's the resonator:/ and it was a 40 series I believe.

What resonator are you talking about? My 2010 Sierra 5.3 has three cats and now a Magnaflow muffler. Maybe they have changed the set up for 2011. If you are talking about the final cat, from what I remember it should be just a cut and replace since I don't remember a sensor behind it. If there is one you will have to figure out a way to disable it so you do not throw codes.

No there is no connections attached to it. Just hoping it won't throw a code or anything like that
