OEM Exhaust tip finally here and installed

OEM Exhaust tip finally here and installed

Postby EX-F150 owner [OP] » Mar 17 2011, 9:58pm

This is the last piece my dealer owed me. Took a while to get because at first, they sent me a tip for the 5.3 liter engine. Crazy that they are different but they are. My exhaust exits out the rear and is larger in diameter too.

Here are some pictures of it.

in this picture what you can not see is the offset in the pipe which does not allow for the tip to be any longer than what it is. Still, to me it looks ok

In this picture you can see the bolt/nut very well. I don't like this so much. Directions says to install it with the nut up. I put it to the left side instead of the right so you could not see it when looking at the truck from the passenger side.. figuring having it under the left side would be hidden better. But you can see it too well from the rear imo. I am wondering if I should go to my exhaust shop and just have him weld or spot weld the top on so I can lose the clamp.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks :)

It looks good Ralph, except for that clamp nut and bolt. Something about a clamped on tip allways looked kind of Billy Bobby to me. I like the wide clamp style. Maybe tig down the clamp then cut the nut/bolt off. I had Magnaflow tips tiged on my pipes on another truck. Turned out nice.

I found one from MBRP powdercoated black.
It is longer with a built in clamp.
Gotta say I like it better than that one.
No offense intended.

Thanks for the idea Rob. I may talk to this shop near me that I've used in the past and see what he can do with it.

No offense taken, Chebby. I think the tip it's self looks ok just not how noticeable the bolt and nut are. To add; I had a MBRP catback on my Ford. It was their 3.5 SI/SO kit. If you are looking for some deep rumble that is what you will get with them. I had quite a few heads spin to see what was coming. I know my nieghbors couldn't have been happy with me when I had it installed

Personally, I would weld it. Just for a suggestion, if you do any work with your truck, you might want to get a shop or someone to cut that pipe off a few inches so no one drops anything on it and bend it. Just a suggestion though.

I like a good exhaust tip...as for the bolt..who cares..if someone takes the time to point out and say hey whats up with the bolt on ur exhaust and doesnt compliment you on ur truck..kick em to the curb...i would just say it makes ur truck unique :)
Crap, my hampster fell off the wheel and it broke its leg.
