Question about resonator tip

So they've got resonator tips at O'Reilly's for about $25.00. What would happen if I put one on my truck... or are they just for diesels?

Question about resonator tip

Resonator tips don't do much at all. They shouldn't affect the sound much. Its more for looks.

Well, my truck sounds really good- the TBS even made it sound smoother. I'm just wondering if the sound would change much if I bolted one on. Maybe I'll just go with a regular s-s tip.

Just get a regular tip Stars. That resonator tip jrulz posted looks like complete RICE. It won't make it sound any different either.

And I've never seen one on a diesel? Have you guys?

It was buggin me why you thought these dumbass things were made for diesels and I think I know why. Lots of guys use dual walled tips from places like MBRP and they kinda look like those resonator tips you're asking about. Only they're 4" at the smallest and cost anywhere from $75 to $150 depending on how big/long you want it.

Question about resonator tip

Postby Jrluz14 » Mar 14 2011, 5:27pm

Yup the resonator tips are RICE. you were definitely thinking of the double wall tips on diesels. My buddy has one on his MBRP on his Powerstroke. They look awesome. Anything over 3" on gas looks like crap IMO tho.

Those aren't the one the sell around here...

My main question is, what kind of sound change do they give?
