2007 Silverado Classic Extended Cab Air Leak

Postby MOJO [OP] » Nov 22 2011, 5:53am

Ok Guys,

I did some searching and can't seem to find much on this so...

I have a 2007 Silverado Classic Z-71 Extended Cab that has the pop out windows and the driver side one has a horrible air leak and I was wondering if this is a one time deal or there are others out there that have a similar problem or hopefully know of a fix for this because its really annoying.

Are you certain the third door is closed all the way? My truck makes a terrible wind noise when it isn't shut all the way. I practically have to slam my passenger side third door.

Yes I have made 1000% sure the third door is shut all the way. The air is coming in thru the window because if I play with the "opener" I can't get it to quit but the sound changes.

this is a normal problem for those windows. it is usually the passenger side though. Ive tried many things but nothing has work. Only sure fix ive read about is to silicone it shut but i dont really wanna do that even though the wind noise is annoying as hell.

Hmm, I am not sure if the closer is able to be replaced or if the whole assembly must be. Can you compare it to the other side to see if something is broken? Is there a tear in the seal at all?

Air leaks are a pain in the ass to fix. You may be able to try to make some adjustment of the latch (I'm not sure if it is possible on that type of latch). You could replace the weather strip, but they are expensive (and may or may not fix the leak). I have taken a small diameter piece of vacuum hose and put it in the hollow part of window seals to make the seal stick out further and seal better. You will probably have to make a small slice in the seal to insert the hose.

I'm sure it's going to be a pain in the butt to fix but I'll get it all sealed up. As for rips in the seal, everything looks ok, just the latch isnt pulling the window shut tight enough.

Can you offset the latch mounting with washers? The extra distance may put more pull on the window.
Marine because.

Had the same exact problem. Go on ebay search for noisy window silverado, they sell an extended bracket for the rear window clasp. Worked perfect, worth the $35.00

That's a lot easier fix than my vacuum tubing fix.
