2012 bedliner'd grill inserts & emblem

There is no option for an all black grill on the '12s and I don't like chrome so figured i'd do it myself. Easier said than done, but well worth the effort cuz she's just the way I wanted. The grill and inserts are actually four pieces heat tabbed together. here's the final look:

What did you use to paint it? I used Plastidip. But yours looks incredible!

I like it I'm torn between plastidip and bed liner for my grill inserts.

Thanks y'all. I used Rustoleum spray can bedliner. After extensive testin on scrap chrome trim pieces with several different methods including plastidip, I found it to have the look, texture, eveness and best abuse resistance I wanted. I wish I had taken pics along the way. After takin the grill completely apart, I lightly sanded, sprayed adhesive promoter and then bedliner'd & put back together.
we'll see how it holds up.

Thanks. if you're gonna try it, let me know and i'll walk you thru it. Hopefully somebody will be sellin painted inserts soon tho!
The black grill part is stock. I did no work to it. The inserts are each two parts, the honeycomb and the surroundin piece. i'm not sure how it woulda turned out without splittin them up, and I figured if it didn't work i'd be buyin a new one anyway, so I went for it. once everything is apart (you have to grind down the tabs to pull apart), the ONLY way you're gettin em back together snug and with a clean look is an epoxylike adhesive in the tabs. definately worth the effort, and it was fun tearin down my brand new truck not knowin how it'd turn out!
