Stoped in at the dealer had them look at all the rust on my frame,a brand new truck one year old.all the undercoating just falling off everywhere ,they said there was nothing they could do about it,all the trucks do that.so I get home call GM TELL them about my problem and what the dealership told me.the gm rep tells me she will call the dealer and look into it,but she tells me she can't make the dealer do anything they don't want to do,I was like WHAT it's a one year old truck.i have not heard anything from gm or the dealer in day's.I'm telling you guys I'm pretty sure my next truck will not be a gm,I have been driving chevy for 15 years now,and this is how my dealer treats me,and gm's response was just over the top for me.
When i bought mine i had it rust proofed by another local company. They will touch it up every year for free. Truck has seen 4 North eastern winters and zero rust where its been protected.
I do agree on GM customer servise. I am pissed after 4 years i am required to buy new wheels since they are chrome clad plastic. My 2002 silvy wheels looked good 10 years after they were made. but since my 3 year 36K warranty is up.. They tell me to go pound salt
THere is something they can do about it, if your dealer is any good at all, they would look on their system and see there is a TSB out on the wax coating coming off the frames on new trucks… There is a product out there that their can spray on to cover the frame again…
GM sells the exact stuff that was applied at the factory in an aerosol can, part number 12346501. If it isn't too bad, scrape the loose areas, clean with alcohol, then spray. It will match perfectly.

Hey thanks a lot for that part number,I'll buy the stuff myself and fix it,I guess if gm won't fix it under warranty I'll have to.i hope all these recalls they are having really puts a hurting on them.they deserve everything they have coming to them.this is how they treat someone after spending 40 grand.im so mad right now I just want to trade it in and buy something else, and it won't be a gm product.
Search the website, and use the TSB mentioned above. They will scrap off all the wax crap, and paint on a decent protectant. If you are under 36000 mi. then they will not charge you.
even though i am fed up with my dealer they did something about that same issue. they said there was a bulletin about it. they scrape off the loose coating then apply this canadian product to the entire frame. they say it's like a POR 15 but can go over the stuff from the factory. there is some thing that gm is aware of. i have been dealing with the body shop on my truck, mine started to peel off after about 2 months. take the gm customer care person here Andraya up on their offer, i just did with my water leak. good luck.
I had my Denali done under warranty shortly after I got it because the undercoating was falling off in chunks. No questions asked.
They had my truck for two days to do it. Your dealer should have taken care of you on the spot. My dealer knew all about the TSB.
Good Luck,
Clark
