Just make sure it's really clean. Make sure you get a lot of coats on it. I would do 8 coats. It will make it easier to take it off when you want to and make it a little tougher.

Plasti-dipped most of my emblems. Its definitely the way to go if you want to change the entire look of your truck without spending money on cheap, off-brand emblems. I was careful not to get too blacked-out tho.

Plast-dip is easily peeled off your vehicle as long as it has been cleaned thoroughly. Then you can just tape off about an inch from the emblem in a rectangle shape. Spray all angles with about 2-3 coats for even covering or more if you want the bed-liner material look. Remove the tape and the dip on your vehicle can peel right off. The dip on the emblem will stick to the emblem. There are tons of videos on YouTube on how to black out your emblems. It is so easy! Do not over think it.

Good luck

Have had great success with dip everywhere but my rear bumper. Every time I step on bumper to get into the bed the plastic cap on top of the metal bumper (I just plasti dipped the chrome on the rear bumper) compresses downward and peels the dip off in certain places. Going to try bed liner on the rear bumper and see if it holds up better.

The grayness of the emblems are a nice touch.

Any guides to placement of emblems and decals once they are finished and need to place back on?

I don't think he removed them. I think he just masked them off and sprayed them on the truck. The bowtie/GMC on the grill is just held on with bolts or clips(depending on year) and easy to remove. But the stick on emblems are probably easier to mask off and spray in place then to remove and reapply.

Is it possible to to make plasti-dip shine or gloss. For instance, will spraying clear coat over the plasti dip give it a nice shine effect?
