A guide to plastidip

my advice for new dippers

Re: A guide to plastidip

So I wanted to get fender flares that look like the factory '15 Sierra fender flares/trim for my Silverado. This is the set I was thinking about:

Would plasti dip work? Would the color match? Anything else I should know?
Thanks

My advice for anyone who is worried about plastidip looking bad after a while is to use Armor All. I dipped my grill, wheels, and body trim (2-3 coats of glossifier also except for the rims) a little under a year ago and after many miles, it got looking faded and stained with bugs and mud. About a month ago, I decided to give my truck its first real bath since October. During the 6 months between baths, I had gone off road about half of those weekends, mudding several times, and my daily commute is a total of 25 miles at highway speeds, with never more than spraying the truck with a hose. I used a pressure washer and a wax/wash water solution with a brush which, while made the paint look shiny and clean, had little effect on the plastidipped areas. Then I got out the Armor All. Not only did it make the plastidip shine like it was applied yesterday, but it also removed the nasty stains that the wash had failed to get out. I strongly recommend Armor All for cleaning and re-shining plastidip. I'll try to find some before and after shots and posts them later.

I live in Fairbanks, Alaska where off roading is almost an every-weekend kind of thing. Lots of boggy trails, running through creeks, mud puts and some heavy brush. Also, Ive taken my truck through some ATV trails to get to some remote camping areas where trees/branches were running all the way down the sides.... up here we call it "Alaska Pinstriping"
I have had all the chrome and badges plastidipped for almost a year and half, going through all that off roading and the weather changes of -45 in winter (and yes, off roading in snow), to summer time with 24 hour sun and +90.
The dip is looking alright, some places need to be touched up. But the truck still looks great and since it all faded evenly it is hard to notice its not actually painted. I applied when temps were in their low 30s and did about 7 coats since i knew i would be beating it up pretty bad.
In the photo, the entire front end used to be chrome, so all the black you see is all dipped.

By any chance has anyone found some plastidip that will match silver ice metallic? I would like to paint match/black all of the chrome on my truck.
