Bug Deflectors

Bug Deflectors

Postby NiteRider [OP] » Aug 28 2011, 7:36am

So ... Do they actually work? I'm not real crazy about them but with my '03 anytime I'm out on the highway and get over 60 mph I get bug splat all over the windshield. Drive's me nuts. Guess it's just the aerodynamics of the truck but I'm wondering if a bug deflector would help prevent this. Anyone using them and if so does it work? I always thought they were for show so I don't know.

I don't know if they will deflect bugs past your windshield (my guess is that they would), but they sure would help protect the nose of your hood! Mine is full of nicks and dings, but if I had a deflector, they wouldn't be there...

i've got one on my 07, seems to catch bugs pretty good, it would be cool to run some JUICE to it, so it would be a zapper

Market that idea, son! Maybe you could coat it in Teflon, and run some juice through it. I think we're onto something here...

I ran some voltage to my wheels on one of my old trucks to get the dogs to stop pissing on them.

They don't keep em off your windshield but they protect that vulnerable spot on your hood from rocks, debris from semis, etc,

I had one on my Avalanche... but took it off. It created a nasty wind noise that sounded like it was coming from the door just inside of the mirrors @ highway speeds (this was a common problem with the AVs).

But no, they'll keep chips and bugs from building up on the front of the hood but not the windshield Like LBZDMAX said.
