Bug Shield and Car Wash

Bug Shield and Car Wash

Postby dtkunkel [OP] » Sep 07 2010, 3:47pm

I have an AVS bug shield on my 2010 Silverado and i am not sure i can take it through a car wash.. My issue is that i live in an apt and i cant wash my truck there, and those do it yourself deals dont work very well.. So, I was wondering if it is possible to take the truck through a traditional car wash or not.. Any experiences would be greatly appriciated..

Thanks..

I have never had an issue with my bug shield, on any truck i have had. They always have those warnings..but i have never had anything catch the shield itself
Crap, my hampster fell off the wheel and it broke its leg.

I suppose it is possible, but I've never had a problem either. If you are worried about it, go to a touchless carwash :P :?:

Thank you, you have set mind at ease, just knowing that someoen else has already tried itmakes me feel better, and the fact that you have never had an issue works for me.

Thanks Again,

I bet the carwash place and the manufacturer are trying to keep a problem from occuring and then being liable. I have not drove through a TOUCHING wash since installing the bugshield. However since my area is in stage 4 water restrictions I suspect I will have to use it sooner or later.

If you still have the packaging, look at it. I have the same brand bug shield on my 2010 and it said it was safe for car washes. Haven't had a problem with it and I use one weekly.

Personally, i love the do-it-yourself car washes. It may be this area, but i find they do a great job. Higher pressure than my house, good soap and a quality rinse. I typically dry my truck at the car was before driving and rub it down with Meguaires Quick detailer to remove any water spots i might have missed. When i get home and the truck isn't moving for 6+hours i apply the tire shine. Turns out pretty well (in my opinion)
