DiamondBack SE Line-X Tonneau

Postby too tall [OP] » Dec 22 2011, 1:50am

Is anyone using the DiamondBack SE Line-X Tonneau?
I'm presently using an Extang Solid Fold Tonneau (07 NBS LTX 6 1/2' bed) which is really nice but I have a real need for access to the front of my box. I'll likely sell that, dang only had it for a few months. Not a leak and perfect fit, I'll miss it :( None the less, who can tell me about the DiamondBack SE? TIA

Looking on the web is a good thing. I found that LineX has the same thing for much less. TIA for comments.

If you need a tonneau but require full access to your bed, check out Bak's BakFlip series of hard tonneau's. I have a BakFlip HD and it is great. Allows full access to the bed when needed, and is a nice tri-folding hard cover as well. I highly recommend, and it looks to be a bit cheaper than the DiamondBack you are looking at. Just a suggestion.

Thanks Eric. That looks well made. Can you comment as to it's ability to keep the bed dry and how well does it deal with snow/ice?

Too Tall,
I'm in the market for a tonneau for my Sierra as well, this one by extang looks like something you may be interested in too http://extang.com/docs-ss/encore.html, especially since you like the extang product.

Thanks idahopilot good call. I do like their products. Bad timing on my part. They came out with that after I got my tri-fold. sheesh story of my life.
It is a nice piece however you must appreciate that Linex / Diamondback units are ment to support a load.

Too tall, in terms of keeping the rain out, as long as its installed correctly (which is easy) it does a great job keeping everything underneath dry. I haven't had an issue since I put it on and it has rained numerous times. In terms of snow and ice, I haven't run it in winter yet (just got it about 2-months ago), but I expect it to do well as Bak indicates it was built to handle all extreme elements. As we are coming into the winter months I expect no issues. Good luck with your tonneau search and feel free to ask me any questions you may have on the BakFlip.

I'm locked and loaded for the DiamondBack with LineX. It really seems like the right stuff for me.

If you get it, can you post some photos of it?

It's the closest things that I can see to what I had on my Avalance (not exactly, but close enough) and I loved how that top worked with all three pieces locked in or came out one at a time. I wish they made that exact cover for our trucks.
