Picking the right temperature..

HID Selection

Postby 2010TErider [OP] » Jul 26 2010, 11:56pm

I am wanting to put HID conversion kit on my new 2010 Silverado and I'm trying to figure out the temperature for the bulbs. I had some issues with my older vehicle and put to hot of a bulb in (10000K) and melted the headlight cover. SO, I'm looking to see if anybody has the information i need for the max temp i can put into the truck without causing temperature damage, aka MELTING HEADLIGHTS.. Any help you can give will be appreciated.. Thankx

just to clarify the HID bulb temp does not have anything to do with heat lol the bulb temp is the color of light, i have an ebay HID conversion kit on my 06 sierra, i have 8000K bulbs which is a lite blue color, not too white not to blue, just right lol

do a net search for HID Color chart and you'll find sum great examples that will help u make the right color choice

I upgraded my low beams and factory fog lamps to 6000K HID's. Here's what they look like on my 2010 2500HD.

I have an 07 sierra, and I am looking into the HID's. My only question is what about the dtl? Does this affect the look of the lights during the day, or the life span of the ballasts? Thanks.
