How often do you use your Tonneau Cover?

Postby ZR2toZ71 [OP] » Jan 11 2012, 6:59pm

The previous owner of my truck put a tonneau cover on it. I am not sure of the make, but it folds up like an accordian/garage door. I am not sure if I want to keep it on my truck for a number of reasons. It limits how I can mount my CB antennas because it takes up most of the bedrail, it takes up a little over a foot of bed space when folded up (brackets and the folded cover get in the way), and I will have to take it off when I get the bedliner put in, and it just does NOT look like fun trying to get it back in.

I had a T-cover on my old truck, but once I took it off, I never put it back on. I was just wondering how much you all use yours? I am still undecided about taking mine out.

How often do you use your Tonneau Cover?

Postby gmctruckguy » Jan 11 2012, 10:35pm

It covers my bed every day! I guess that I'm using it all the time, it's nice to be able to keep things in the back, hidden and locked up. Plus it keeps the snow out of the box too.

I'm with gmctruckguy. Keeping the snow out and locking stuff in the bed are nice features. I love my cover.

Mine Truxedo is on all the time. Only time I roll it up is when I put some in the bed and need extra height or more access to bed.

+1 on keeping it covered at all times, I keep my ladders and hand tools in it at all times.

i only use mine is summer to haul my camping stuff winter time gets really annoying because the snow will rub on the back window..... i also have the same problem with putting firestiks on my truck. firestik makes a mount that goes in the bed hole and is flat. says its used for a camper top so iam guessing it might work with a cover? http://www.amazon.com/FireStik-SS-194A- ... I had one on my old truck. The cover had a rip in it, and it got worse when it was stretched out on the bed, so I didn't use it for long, but if I would have had the chance, I would have kept it covered 24\7 (unless I was hauling stuff), especially in the winter. Plus, it was SUPER handy for hauling leaves around. I kinda wish I had one on my new truck!

Mine is on except when I have to make a haul which needs the entire bed... which is rare.

It has to keep out those pesky Atlanta snow flakes in the dead of winter... we actually had 3 entire inches which shut the whole city down for two days last year!
