How to fix rust

How to fix rust

Postby pc9460 [OP] » Jun 02 2013, 3:17am

My truck has rust around it. How difficult is it to repair it myself? I am on a budget and want to know what to use. I figure I have $250 to spend to fix it up appearance wise. I use it mainly for winter but want it to look decent without the rust. Are there any good tutorials on how to fix rust? Also please provide me a list of what I should buy or what you recommend. Also any good techniques that I should follow?

That all depends on where the rust is and how bad it is. Is it just sluight rust or is there major rust through?

You gotta cut the cancer out to get rid of it completely.

The rust is mainly on the rear fenders. I can break the rust off and it will leave me a hole.

Go by a ford dealership and ask them on how they do it. They deal with it everyday.

You would have to cut it out, but if it is that severe it would be better to either get another bed and have it painted. The other option is to find another bed, there is no easy fix on that.

I doubt $250 will be able to do anything to get it fixed. I'd prolly not worry about it. Maybe you could find a good solid used bed to put on it.

If its coming off in chunks and leaving holes, you'll have to replace sheetmetal.
