Info on American Roll Cover retractable tonneau cover?

Postby RMC_SS_LDO [OP] » Oct 11 2010, 11:51pm

Looking at adding a tonneau cover, specifically a retractable one.

I am looking at several with the leader for now being the American Roll Cover from Truck Covers USA. I don't have a dealer locally but the selling points for it are that it locks but allows opening the tail-gate (my truck has a locking tali-gate) and it supports up to a claimed 500 pounds.

I have also been looking at the Roll-N-Lock unit but not crazy about the vinyl covering or the fact that it requires a swap of the tail-gate cover to allow it to lock. Looked at the Jackrabbit cover but the hardware seems to fade pretty bad after a while and doesn't seem very durable.

Just trying to find someone who has data on the American Roll Cover unit; lot of loot to drop on something sight-unseen...

I just ordered a "BAK roll bak" cover myself, expecting it sometimes this week. I ordered it from http://www.truckaddons.com and it cost $879 dealered to my door. I will let you know how it goes, may be doing the install next week if weather permits . I will take some pics of the install, the one cool thing I like is I don't have to have a key to lock it, so that makes it one less thing to worry about.

I just put pics of my GM toneau cover in my gallery.
But, if I had it to do all over again, I would have an Access cover. My last one lasted 6.5 years, looked great, and fit tighter than the GM one.
I do like the embossed logo of the GMC one, though!
