Is it safe to take your new 2011 truck to a car wash

I think you'll be alright man, I own an autoshop and I have painted a fair share of trucks and I have never noticed or had complaints of car washes damaging a new paint job, but the risk is always there but its not an elevated risk because its new or newly painted.

zandron263 wrote:You can wash and wax factory paint right away. Any collision shop paint you should wait as long as the body shop tells you to. I spent 6 hours today on my Camaro wash, clay bar, wash again, polish , 2 coats of wax. I used Zaino show car polish and my Porter Cable 7424 XP random orbital buffer. I will be doing the same to the Silverado in the next week or two but it may take all weekend on something that big. But look at this picture my Camaro shines like glass.

Thanks for the advise on washing the truck,
BTW are you pulling the rockwood 5er with a 1500 silverado? If you are how is that working for you?

I have a white '11 Denali HD- I just run it thru a regular carwash weekly to get all the tree sap, bugs, dirt off.
It looks and feels like silk after- of course, I get the liquid wax protectant on every wash...which could help.

I figure if you don't wash it weekly- you'll start building up layers of dirt and grime which will lead one to manually waxing / clar baring off the buildup.

Jim I am pulling that trailer with my 1500. Its a light trailer for a 5th wheel 6900 lbs empty. It does ok with it although I do travel light and don't carry any water in the holding tanks. It struggles a little on big hills but gets the job done. The 6 speed transmission is way better on acceleration than my 0888 with the 4 speed was. However I am about at the max I would tow without moving up to a 2500
