I think it kinda depends on the application. Working on the suspension or anything where weight has to be taken off the rear axle I use the frame or the hitch. Just to get the tires off the ground I use the axle for one side and the hogshead to get both sides off the ground. I think that might answer your question

Ya I just need to get the tires off the ground. Putting some splash guards on. Hogshead is the differential right?
