Lower air deflector

Does it really do anything? It makes the truck look really low

Lower air deflector

Ok. on my 2010 silverado, there is a lower air deflecter below the bumper that makes the ground clearance on the front atrocious. does it really do anything or is it just there for looks? im asking because it looks like it just bolts off, and i wanna treat the new truck perfectly (unlike the old blazer, which i didnt care about what i did)

It's there for aerodynamic reasons; improving gas mileage, believe it or not. I took mine off long ago, though. (One of the bolts on it busted so it hung loose on one side) No difference in gas mileage. I hated how it made the truck look low, too.

I took mine off, too ('08 Silverado). The stance is still nose-down, but not so obviously so as with the deflector in place. In fact, the tow hooks now stand out. Cool! The air deflector definitely detracts from the look.
