So I have a 1500 which come with the chrome bumper the Denail version has painted
Bumpers. Is the best way to convert mine to have it painted over the chrome or have it wrapped some how. Any one have opinion or personal experience?

well if you felling brave enough painting would be the easiest but you have to rough up the surface first with sand paper so needless to say its permanant

or if you have a good sign/grafix shop around you can get a matching color wrap for the crome parts that can always be removed. (i think someone on here has a grafix shop i know i have seen one but i can remember who it was might want to ask around.)

so its really up to if your willing to make it permanant or not.

Im new to this whole truck gig, but im going to plasti dip all the chrome on my 1500. just a thought, Ive used the stuff before on the interior of my old car...seems to hold up well and itll give the two tone flat textured / gloss of your paint.

I'm in the process of painting my power bar right now actually. Using Duplicolor "Perfect Match" auto paint and clear. Not that hard actually. Just masked off the factory painted areas, cleaned and roughed up the chrome a bit, then spray. Light coats until its covered then clear it. Wait 24 hours then wet sand it. Use some rubbing compound and BOOM, it's pretty!

Ended with this.

I got this look by doing what I said above. Did everything myself in my own house with rattle cans.

Is it smooth and clean finish?

How did you rough your chrome up?

And where do you get the materials?

It is smooth and clean. You have to wet sand the clear after it has cured for 24 hours to smooth it out. Then you use the rubbing compound to make it shine real good.

I rouged up the chrome with 1000 grit paper. A little high honestly, but it worked. If I had to do it again I'd use a red scuff pad.

I got my materials from Advance. 1 can of paint and 1 can of clear did the whole thing. Other auto stores should have it though. The stuff is from Dupli-Color and it's their "Perfect Match" line. It's an exact match and is automotive grade paint.
