Postby hocman22 [OP] » Dec 11 2011, 10:53pm

Ive got a 2011 extended cab long bed silverado and need nerf bars as its a little tough getting in and out. Just want some opinions on the best nerd ones and also if they are really that difficult to install. Thanks! and pictures are awesome :)

I went with rocker panel mount 4 inch ovals from Raptor. Pretty easy to install, just don't drop the clip nuts into the rocker panel. A pain yo get them out.

I have a set of 4" Raptor body bolt mount bars. They are sitting a bit close right now, because the body mount bushings need to be replaced. But once that is complete, they will be a inch or two lower from the body floor.

I just bought a set off of ebay for $169 including shipping and they arrived on friday. They mount right up to the body mount bolts without any drilling. Saturday morning I started to install them. I started removing the bolts and installing the brackets. On the third bolt I must have snapped the welds on the upper retaining bolt :x and can't remove the bolt or get access to the upper nut. I guess it's going back to the dealer and hopefully it's going to be covered under warranty. The truck only has 1,000 miles on it. I can't wait to get it fixed and get the steps on the truck.

I got lucky an found a pair of bully nerf bars with back powdercoat finish for cheap, they mount to the body bolts and were really simple to install, It should be really easy on a 2011. Mine is an 05 so the bolts and bushings were shot but the intall kit came with new bolts.

Just curious...what do you consider a cheap pair?

Well, I'm not sure how anyone can determine something like that. If my Raptor bars fall apart in 10 years, maybe I'll know.. I step on my bars every day, and they are fine to me. I can't see how they would fall apart in any way. And if they ever did, they do have a warranty, so I'm covered.
