New stock fog light install question...

New stock fog light install question...

Postby ricka182 [OP] » Nov 29 2011, 7:09pm

My truck did not come with foglights, but has that little covering piece where they would normally go. I can get a set shipped for under $50, but the picture looks a bit odd.

For anyone who has the stock set installed, what goes in that little area? The picture I saw looked like there was some sort of mounting piece that sits there, and the light is then attached to that? make sense, or I am just not seeing right?

pretty sure there is a fog light, and a fog light mounting bracket, so that is probably what you are seeing.

I'll have to look up the install instructions later to make sure. That sound about right, it did look it could be a bracket of sort.. Just hard to imagine where it would bolt on as I have the cover piece still in place. I'll pull it of this weekend and take a closer look.

Also, I'm a bit wary on the wiring. Stock sets should just wire into a fusebox or something like that I would imagine.. At least I hope..

im sure the bracket will bolt into the same place that the existing dummy piece is.

as for wiring, theres a chance your truck is already pre wired for fog lights (most likely since you have the dummy holes) but there is still a chance that the factory wiring isnt there and youll have to do it yourself
