New stuff on my new truck

New stuff on my new truck

Postby lanningjw [OP] » Apr 06 2011, 1:33pm

I have added a few things to my new truck.

Weathertech no drill mudflaps. And the really cool digitalfit floorliner mats.

Went with a plastic Duraliner bed liner, I hall firewood and it helps to be able to slide the split wood out of the bed.

Also went with the Access bed cover. Seems to keep the snow and rain out of the bed and has worked well on other trucks that I have owned.

I am also gonna put on the Adarac from Access that allows you to transport a kayak with the cover out. You can keep your camping gear dry from the rain.

My 97 silverado was straight piped with a nice little cat back exhaust that was fun. The Minnesota State trooper pulled me over because my tint in the windows was a little to dark for his liking. And he asked me to rev the engine up to 3,000 RPM so he could hear those nice pipes! He said that he had heard louder and a ticket for that mod was avoided but I did get one for too dark of tint on the windows. I guess I need a medical reason for the dark tinting in Minnesota.

I guess I would be willing to mod the engine if it doesnt get to loud. I am also using the truck for pulling our camper. I dont know if you want to mod up the engine if you are doing alot of pulling.

As far as modding the engine for towing, I'd highly recommend it. In my old 97 Sierra, I gained 2 mpg (plus a great kick in the pants) when I re-did the exhaust. As far as my current truck goes, I've done a Cold Air Intake, Flowmaster muffler, and a throttle body spacer. The muffler and throttle body spacer have added the most punch, and the throttle body spacer also gave me an extra 0.5-1.5 mpg. But I suppose you have to deal with that warranty...

If you shop online at Amazon, they have nice ratings for how loud a muffler is; you can also call up the service guys at whatever company you're buying from. I called Flowmaster, and they were very helpful.
