New Truck needs step or nerf

New Truck needs step or nerf

Postby chevygirlkc [OP] » Mar 16 2011, 2:48am

Hi guys,
I traded my Black 2002 S-10 4x4 Crew Cab (62,000 me only miles on it) for my new "Baby"...2011 Z71 Black Extended Cab 5.3L LTZ Plus Package, 18" chrome wheels with black boot rear wheel liners, added Line-X spray-in bed liner, Chevy Emblem soft roll-up tonneua cover, Chevy Bow-tie mud guards, smoke bug shield, had 2" leveling kit added and just added BesTop TrekStep rear step. Colorful NASCAR trailer hitch cover and Black carpet floor mats with red bow-tie are on order because I hate those ugly huge rubber ones that came with the truck (threw those in the garage sale pile). Now I need something to help my 74 year old 5'3" Mom into my "baby" so we can go out for girls afternoon shopping extravaganza's. I've never been a fan of running boards. I always end up just getting my slacks dirty (or worse, a tear in my nylons). Don't laugh, you're wives and girlfriends have complained about the same thing :D I'm 5'8" so I really don't need the assit but my Mom and some of my friends do. I have been thinking about getting the GoRhino Spring Step (stirrup type) that springs up under the truck and drops down 3" when you put your foot in it. I'm guessing I'll need 4. Or I was wondering about the NFab with the 4 steps. I also want to put those little steps that spring out at the 2 corners by the cab and bed so I can reach into the truck bed or wash the back window. If I go with the NFab it comes in a 6 step so I can maybe skip the 2 little corner ones. I also want to get a black license plate spring down step so I can reach the middle of the hood. Black trucks are beautiful when clean and waxed and I'm pretty picky about that.
Please let me know your thoughts. Whatever I get will be powder coated black. Thanks guys.

Hey Kelly, Pictures of your truck?? :) It sounds really nice! I like black trucks as well! Here's what I have on my 2003. Not sure if you want round bars that go all the way down the cab. These won't snag nylons! These are Smittybilt black powder coated, and have been on for 4 years, and look as good as the day I put them on.

Sounds like you have done your homework. Bottom line is get what you like. All your choices will look good on that new Chevy. My choice would be the retracting stowing type. Cool factor is off the charts with those. 8-) 8-) 8-)

To bad your so far away. I took off a set of Iron Cross nerf bars I would let go of cheap.

I have factory bars and love them. Have some big friends and like that they will hold the weight. GM I believe makes a full board that comes down when doors are opened and when doors are closed they fold back under the truck with electric motors. Enjoy the ride
Thank you

I'm a big fan of the Go Rhino Dominator steps. I'll get them for my truck, eventually.
Dang it's hot!

I agree with starsnbars - sounds like this is what you want:

http://www.bestoppowerboard.com/

I've ordered the Iron Cross Endeavour, which can be ordered in black powdercoat, here is a link to their catalog:

Sounds like a great truck, where are the pics?
