Paint Codes

Postby EKinMN [OP] » Nov 02 2010, 4:57am

Here's a quick break down of what the code means. Example:

Year 1989

Name Paint Code
Dark Blue Metallic 28/WA8264

The Break Down:

The first part of the paint code is a refrence to an RPO code Like 28U or 28L. The U stands for upper color and L stands for Lower color. This is if you have a two tone paint job. The WA8264 is the refrence number to the color. It will be show Like L8264 or U8264.

You can find this code on the bottom of the Service Part Identification Sticker located in side your glove box. Names of paint may change, but the paint codes remain the same. Example, Olympic white and Summit white are the same color.

I went out to this site to find what they built into my truck at the factory:

http://www.compnine.com/vid.php

All you need is your VIN, and they'll go through the whole build, Option Code by Option Code - I checked: it is identical to the codes listed on the sticker in the glovebox - that has all the codes used to build your truck too. Here's what mine looks like:

The only thing I didn't like: the paint color description was wrong.

That tag line sure makes you feel good about your truck, doesn't it!

We could make a contest out of this - to see who's truck is more special...
Here's mine:
There are 7 2009 P/UP K1500 EXT CAB STD BOX vehicles (0.010%) matching your exact options list. There are 10 (0.014%) with at least as many options.

Oh, if I only had that All Terrain Package...

Mine was not found!

Nothing found for VIN Number. It may be that we don't have it in the database yet, but be sure to check that you have typed it correctly. Be sure to try back often, we're constantly updating the database.

Not that rare? Are you kidding?!! Out of all the 2007 CREW CAB 6'5" BOX 3/4 TON vehicles made, there's only 40 like yours! That's pretty special.

I wonder how many were unique?
