I can see it happening with snow and ice. Mine did it right out of the garage this morning, no ice, nice and dry, just cold out 15 deg and 50 deg in the garage.

Hello,

I did consult the Owner's Manual and found a section on page 9-62 of possible scenarios that can cause interruptions with the Park Assist system. If you feel, there there is an issue, please consult a local dealership. Please include your VIN#, name, situation, contact information, and current mileage in the event you send a PM if you're not satisfied with the outcome. I hope all well.

Matt,

. The ultrasonic sensors are not
clean. Keep the vehicle's rear
bumper free of mud, dirt, snow,
ice, and slush. For cleaning
instructions, see Exterior Care
on page 10‑98.
. The park assist sensors are
covered by frost or ice. Frost or
ice can form around and behind
the sensors and may not always
be seen; this can occur after
washing the vehicle in cold
weather. The message may not
clear until the frost or ice has
melted.
. A trailer was attached to the
vehicle, or an object was
hanging out of the tailgate during
the last drive cycle. Once the
object is removed and the
tailgate is raised, URPA will
return to normal operation.
. A tow bar is attached to the
vehicle.
. The bumper is damaged. Take
the vehicle to your dealer to
repair the system.
. Other conditions, such as
vibrations from a jackhammer or
the compression of air brakes on
a very large truck, are affecting
system performance.

Re: Park Assist Off

Postby hightech » Jan 27 2013, 4:26pm

My 2013 has done this as well and I have asked my dealer about it, in which case I got the normal replies, about blockage, something on sensor etc, the problem is as I have owned a 2007 Yukon denali for several years now with this option I have NEVER had it do this without something attached to the hitch or actual snow etc over the sensors, my 2013 has done this one time after going threw car wash when it was cold out (although it didn't do it for several hours after that but I can understand this one) and one time when it rained while it was sitting in my drive way, next morning (wasn't freezing out) disabled again, I am thinking there is a seal not properly seated on one of the sensors and plan to make my dealer look into this further, I actually know the people at my local dealership pretty well and they in fact looked up some bulletin that showed there could be a seal problem with a sensor as one of the causes.(most likely) I know my dealer will take care of, just a pita to be without your truck. But I LOVE the truck.

I agree, mine does it right after going to the car wash and ice builds on them. Just clean them off and you should be ok.

I never thought of the possibility that there is ice or frost behind the sensor. That could account for it, even if the sensor looks clean.
For me, I know that anything in the way sets mine off. Not just towing, but even if the hitch is in, or they are even slightly dirty. I guess I prefer them overly sensitive, versus not sensitive enough.

Mine shuts off when the tailgate is down. I think it hits the little spoiler thing.
