Rail Protectors and a Cap

Postby GeorgeJ [OP] » Dec 19 2011, 9:58pm

Hello All,
First post and just got my first pickup. A 2001 1500 ext cab Silverado in great shape with low miles. Did a little searching, and I was wondering if anyone is running bushwacker bed rail protectors -Ultimate's http://www.autoanything.com/bed-caps-rails/60A5825A0A0.aspx and a cap. It looks like it shouldn't be a problem to just lay the cap right back on top of the rails. The truck came with a cap, so of course the first thing I did was take it off. But now with Winter/snow coming I think I'm going to put back on until the spring.

Thanks for any advice,
George

I have the Bushwackers on my truck and love them. They are really thick, and cover more over the rail than some of the others. I also like the fact they use a lot on double-sided tape and use small screw clamps to make sure they hold in place. I got the OEM texture style to match the tailgate cover, but since I have the Extang Solid Trifold bed cover, you really don't see them as much.

Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully it will stay warm here (above 45 or so) I will install these this week. After a test fit - It looks like I have to trim the bed liner about a half inch so the rear clips line up with the bed. Hope a dremel works.
