Rustoleum lens tint?

Postby cbell01 [OP] » Aug 01 2012, 4:25am

Anyone used the rustoleum brand lens tint instead of the vht niteshade? The only store I'm close to is out of VHT, not sure if I should try this stuff or not. Any info is appreciated!

Never used it, but looks like it would do the same thing as Niteshade.

I used 2 coats of VHT. I think think Rustoleum will do the trick. be sure to get some masking tape if you plan on doing any designs. haha and make sure it sticks 4 crisp lines. i put sone bow ties on my taillights. but the tape didn't stick like I wanted it to so now I have to do some fine tuning. nothing unfixable here are a couple pics...106861068510671

Well done sir! That was only two coats? Looks about perfect to me man very nice job
I was just wondering about the quality of the rustoleum vs the vht really, I'm gonna go ahead and do it.
Did you do any sanding or buffing after you tinted?

So I did my tails, look pretty good so far.. haven't put them back in yet so no pics. A coworker is telling me I should wax them, is that a good/bad idea? I'm not very well informed in this type of stuff so I wanted some others input before I screwed up again. The first being the 3rd brake light, tried to rush it and not let the stuff dry, looks like hell! So I ordered the recon one instead lol

I have used both vht and rustoleum and they both came out great, I think the rustoleum is a little easier to use, it's not as watery as vht was.
