My 2012 is Silver Ice Metallic. I keep noticing an almost blotchy or uneven look in the paint. I don't really notice it all in the in bright sunlight at all. Where I do notice it mostly is in my garage and more on the side of the truck that is next to the window. When looking down the side of the truck I see lighter/darker areas. Sort of like it got an uneven paint job.

The body shop mgr told me it's the nature of metallic paint. Especially lighter colors. He said I will notice it more in certain lighting.

Anybody else notice this?

Yep, I think the body shop mgr is right. Metallic in lighter colors appear that way at certain and different angles. However, if you get in direct sunlight the paint will look consistent. Thats odd, how the SON makes everything appear as it should?, no pun intended. But it is true.

On a sunny day it looks fine. In other light, some worse than others, it look way uneven and blotchy. I never thought I should need to include parking in my garage as part of test driving. I'm not sure what to do.

Same thing on my brand new sheer silver met. 2011, only notice it under the shop lights inside & it's only on the drivers side below the two side windows, the paint to me looks blotchy too, havn't checked back with my dealer about it yet, maybe the robots were on break or running out of paint when ours were built. Mine was built at the FT. Wayne plant, anyone else have this issue?. Mine came off the truck with a dent & scrape in it from trailer damage on the other side & the chevy body shop matched it perfect with NO issues.

Pretty sure mine came from Ft. Wayne plant too. Have to double check. Drivers side is worse for me also. But there is also a window on that side of my garage that seems to make it worse. I cover the garage window and I can't see so much.

Yep i hear ya, inside the drivers door will tell you the final assy. plant, going to see my dealer later this week about it, & also mention it to a family member that works at ft. wayne plant, i'll let you know what they say, i myself don't like it & going to get it resolved..

Body mgr, service mgr and I just looked at another truck and a cruze. They all seem to do it.

I have a 2012 silver ice crew cab. No paint issues at all. Looks great. Best paint job I ever had. No imperfections anywhere.

If you wouldn't mind, check it out in different lights and look down the side of the truck from an angle. Straight on I don't see it as much except I know it's there.

This issue is still bugging the crap out of me. Just doesn't seem right so when I went in for 30 day check up today I had them pull up another new one. Happen to be a 2500 diesel, but same color. I didn't see any of the uneven/blotchy looking paint that I see on mine. With the technology we have today I can't see any reason why silver metallic should look worse and more uneven in 2012 than silvers of the past.

So...I opened a case. Service mgr also called his field rep.

Is Roanoke and Ft Wayne the same plant? I have a build sheet that says Ft Wayne plant, but just noticed my sticker says Roanoke.
