hi i,m new to this forum. I have a 2003 gmc sierra.I am trying to get the spare tire down from under the truck.It comes down about 4 inches and stops.The cable is completly free,I can pull :roll: it right out but the tire just hangs there. I checked the owners manual.and it says there is a secondary catch and i have followed the instructions and it will not release.any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. :roll:

i would try some wd40 maybe to loosin it up

It should be an easy fix- I've run into the same problem. Unbolt the spare tire holder, and detach it from the truck. Soak it in your favorite lube (WD-40, liquid wrench, etc.), and then try to wind\unwind the cable all the way. It should be pretty smooth now.
