Spray-On Bed-linered Running Board Steps

Postby freeze916 [OP] » Jun 02 2012, 4:47pm

Has anyone painted or other wise colored their chrome steps? I was going to take them off because I didn't like all the chrome. I have kind of grown to like the function of them though, so I am thinking of taking the rubber pads off, painting them with some kind of textured bed liner or something, and reinstalling the pads. Just wondering if this is something anyone has done or seen done at all. Not sure how well it would come out.

My chrome steps were all scratched up, so I put Hurculiner on them. Now I'll never need to wash them again! I did have them painted gloss black (which came off, thanks to my laziness in prepping the surface for painting), and it doesn't look as good as the gloss black, but it's better than crappy chrome! This is with the gloss black; I don't have one yet of the bedliner.

That thing looks like a tank man, nice truck. Is that a black exhaust too? Looks good.

Thanks! I did spray the exhaust tip with the paint, and it's held up a lot better than the steps did. The paint is really crappy now, since the tip gets sprayed with all the rocks and dirt from the right rear tire. Oh well- that's life :D!

Hi, freeze916:
I painted my exhaust pipe as well (I am certain that's where starspangled6.0 got the idea ). Here is a link to it: Painted Exhaust Pipe
It's holding up very well, after about a year!
