tonneau cover

Postby snikr [OP] » Feb 19 2010, 3:28pm

I just got a 2005 GMC Sierra Xtra Cab and I want to put a tonneau cover on it. I'd like to know where to go online to get one. Vendor should be a good one that has a low price as well. I've had Tonneau Master covers on my last two Dakota's I've owned and really liked them so I think that's the brand I'm leaning towards. But I'd like any info you can give me. TIA

What kind of Tonneau cover are you looking for? Soft, hard, fold-up, roll-up, velcro, hinged, hydraulic, seal and peel, snap? There are so many choices and recommendations based on the type you are after.

I've had a Lund that was pretty good and I was happy with.

I'm looking for a soft roll up cover. I've had TonneauMaster covers on my last two Dakotas and I really liked them.

I have a Lund tri-fold on my Canyon, works pretty well, it's a soft cover but folds up easier than rolling one up. Extang makes a similar one which is a better design IMO (the clamps are spring loaded rather than a lever).

I spent the better part of March looking for the right one. I finally found a good tonneau cover online (tonneaucovers4less.com). Wasn't expensive. I hope that helps. Good luck with your search.

I have a metal, locking roll cover on my Sierra. I love it. I have to sacrifice about 10" of bed space, but it's worth the security/flexibility. It can preinstalled on the truck when I bought it used, so I have no idea how much it cost. My neighbor has one of those soft snap on covers, but it takes about 10 minutes to unsnap, roll it up, remove the supports and reinstall everything back when done and it isn't lockable either.

You can kinda see it in this picture

Lund has always treated me great. the soft seal & peel i have had on my last two trucks where cheap and took a beating in NY winters. pretty sure i will be putting one on my 2010 sierra i just purchased...
