Tonneau Cover

Have done search here and still undecided in which BakFlip cover to get,I like the F1 and the HD,differance being one is aluminum and the other Fiberglass.

Are there any benifits to getting one versus the other.

If hail is something you have to deal with, then the F1 is most (dent) resistant. In addition it has the most weight bearing if heavy snow is a factor to consider.

No snow in Florida, just undecided, they claim the F1 does not get as hot as the HD,that will be a factor in the Florida sun, have read some people are dissatisfied with their Bakflips and some are are very satisfied.

Gator, I have the BakFlip HD and am more than satisfied. I live in the Greater Boston Area, so I deal with snow and rain regularly and I haven't had any issue with the cover. In terms of heat, I don't really remember it getting hot, but I just installed it a few months ago, so I haven't gone through a summer with it yet. I went with the HD over the F1 due to price, but another advantage of the F1 is I believe that it's lighter. Anyway, whichever way you go, you'll be satisfied.

Eric,

Thanks for the info, yes the F1 is lighter, not that I will be folding this cover everyday, but I'm inclined to go with the F1 just because of the Florida sun might get the HD too hot to handle on certain days.

The F1 has an FRP upper panel, but the lower panel is aluminum. Both panels of the HD are aluminum. Both the F1 and the HD are 5/8" thick and the F1 is 5% more rigid than the HD. Both have a two year warranty.

If you like the Bakflip, you may also want to look at the new Undercover Flex.

The thing about the F 1 not getting hot is highly debatable. The F1 that I have in Southern California got hotter than heck this past summer. If your not dealing with snow or hail, I would go for the HD or less. Save yourself some money.

Yes Aluminum is stronger. But if snow and hail isn't a factor, I don't think it matters. I got the F1 only because right now I am living in So. Cal, but will be relocating to a state where it can snow pretty good.

Not sure what you mean by stronger, but consider this: The F1 can hold more weight than the HD or G2. Also, the HD and G2 can dent while the F1 will not dent.
